U.S. adds Solid 177,000 New Jobs in April

The labor market still looks healthy despite a small contraction in the economy in the first quarter. The U.S. added 177,000 jobs in April, above the 133,000 forecast. The unemployment rate held steady at 4.2%.
The better-than-expected report provides cover for the Federal Reserve to stay on hold and leave interest rates unchanged until it can tell how the trade wars are affecting the economy.
